Your Questions Answered
How often should I eat it?
Seeds are a superfood and can be enjoyed every day! They are naturally low in sugar and saturated fats, and high in fiber and protein.
We recommend you eat a tsp of the mix after every meal to help promote digestion.
If you need more fiber because you are backed up, try a tbsp twice a day and drink a lot of water. If our mix is not your thing, try our tea biscuits and biscotti.
How long will it stay fresh?
Keep any seed mixes in sealed tight containers such as our glass jars, grab & go bags, or countertop tins.
They will last for up to 3 months in a cool, dry place. Remember! Fennel seeds are fresh when greenish-brown in color.
SauFennel's cookies come straight from our bakery and should be eaten within two weeks. We don't use artificial preservatives or anything fake to preserve shelf life.
How is it pronounced?
The word saunf (pronounced soo-unf) means fennel seeds. In some areas, it is known as mukhwas.
Indian food restaurants keep a bowl of uncovered candied saunf by the door for you to eat on your way out. Many families make traditional saunf mixes at home.
We use saunf as the main ingredient in all of our treats. Therefore, we pronounce it ”So-Fennel”.
Food as medicine?
Our treats are made with natural ingredients that have health benefits and properties known to be good for digestive health.
People living on the Subcontinent, and in parts of Europe, have been eating fennel after meals for centuries to promote digestion and cleanse the palate. For some people, it helps treat constipation and diarrhea. For some nursing moms, it helps increase lactation.
However, if you currently take meds or are thinking about switching to SauFennel instead of taking meds, you should check with your doctor first.
